General eligibility guidelines:
- Proof of Swiss Parentage:
The applicant or one of his or her parents must be a Swiss national.
- Residency Requirement:
- Applicants for Pellegrini and Zimmermann scholarships and the OSA award must be permanently domiciled in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or Delaware for two years or more.
- Applicants for Medicus grants for study in Switzerland must reside in the United States.
- Financial Qualifications:
For a full Pellegrini scholarship or a Medicus grant at the undergraduate level, applicants must demonstrate the need for financial support.
- Academic Standings:
Applicants must be in good academic standing and show aptitude in their chosen fields of study.

Students outside the areas covered by our programs should contact their Swiss Consulate for information about scholarships offered by Swiss organizations in their area.

Please read the application carefully, fill out the required information legibly and make sure you have all supporting documents required. Only complete and legible applications will be accepted. Do not forget to sign your application on the last page of the application form.
We urge you to fill it out in Adobe Acrobat, then print and send it to us. If you need extra space, please annotate your copy clearly and as needed, using an additional sheet.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.00. This fee is due when you file your application.

Completed applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee by March 31st of each year. Application fees must be received when filing your application. Applications postmarked or unpaid after March 31st will not be considered. The SBS does not confirm receipt of applications to students. We recommend using a traceable means of shipping, such as certified mail, to ensure safe and verifiable delivery.
Applicants will be notified of the Committee's decision in June in writing.
