Eligibility and Application Forms

General eligibility requirements:
SBS Merit Scholarship, SBS Outstanding Scholastic Achievement (OSA) Award and SBS Graduate Award:

  • Proof of Swiss Parentage: The applicant or one of his or her parents must be a Swiss national.
  • Residency Requirement: Applicants must be permanently domiciled in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or Delaware for two years or more.
  • Academic Standings: Applicants must be in good academic standing and show aptitude in their chosen fields of study.
  • Coursework Schedule: Applicants will study full-time (min. 12 credits) in college or graduate school.

Medicus Student Exchange Scholarship:

  • Residency Requirement: Applicants for the Medicus Student Exchange Scholarship must reside in the United States.
  • Academic Standings: Applicants must be in good academic standing and show aptitude in their chosen fields of study.
  • Coursework Schedule: Applicants will study full-time at undergraduate (college junior or senior) or graduate school level.
  • Acceptance from Swiss University: Applicants must be accepted to study at a Swiss University, Federal Institute of Technology or Technical College (Fachhochschule).

In addition to the general eligibility requirements above, all applicants must meet the scholarship-specific eligibility requirements. Please carefully review the scholarship-specific requirements:

Students outside the areas covered by our programs should contact their Swiss Consulate for information about scholarships offered by Swiss organizations in their area.

Scholarship application forms:
Please complete the application form electronically on your computer (click on the link below to open the application form, then click on the download-icon to fill out the form with Adobe Acrobat).
After completing the form electronically, please sign, scan and email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you need extra space, please annotate your copy clearly and as needed, using an additional sheet.

Please read the application form carefully and make sure, that your application form is complete and properly signed (no electronic signatures).


Required supporting documents and application deadlines:
Completed application forms must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee by March 31st. Please check which scholarship-specific supporting documents must be sent together with the application form by March 31st and which supporting documents can be provided until April 30th:

Applications or supporting documents emailed after March 31st resp. April 30th will not be considered.
The SBS does not confirm receipt of applications or supporting documents to students.

Application fee:
There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.00. This fee is due on March 31st. Applications unpaid after March 31st will not be considered. To make a payment please visit https://www.sbsny.org/scholarships/payment.

All documents submitted will become the property of the Scholarship Committee and will not be returned. All information given to the Scholarship Committee will be kept in strict confidence.

Applicants will be notified of the Committee's decision by the end of June in writing. Decisions made by the Scholarship Committee are final and cannot be appealed or discussed.
